Barkot is a beautiful hill town in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district, nestled along the banks of the Yamuna River and surrounded by the majestic Himalayan mountains. Located at an altitude of around 1,220 metres, Barkot is known for its peaceful surroundings, apple orchards, pine forests and spectacular mountain views. Barkot serves as an important stopover on the Yamunotri Dham pilgrimage route and is often used by travellers as a base before continuing towards Janki Chatti and Yamunotri. The town offers a relaxing escape from the busy cities, with pleasant weather, scenic valleys and a distinctly Himalayan atmosphere.
